No Circulation of Customer Address Data in Germany
Domain owners in Germany do not have to worry about their address data being sold to marketing companies or address publishers. News on such incidents in the USA have raised concerns in Germany. The German registry DENIC therefore emphasizes their unequivocal rejection of such practices. "Our job is the management of domain names, not the trade with customer information", explains Sabine Dolderer, executive manager of DENIC. "The addresses of our customers are under no circumstances given or even sold to address publishers or directories. It contradicts privacy laws and our own customer contracts."
