Beware of obscure Domain Service
Today numerous domain owners have received a letter from a so-called "Deutsche Domain Verwaltung" (German Domain Registry). In this letter they are instructed to pay DM 369 for an unspecified service of "switching your web address online". DENIC eG as central registry for .de domains would like to point out that this is not an invoice for a .de domain, but an attempt to extract money from customers for a useless and dubious service with a large amount of criminal energy. If you do not pay, you neither endanger your registered .de domain, nor does anything change with respect to connectivity. DENIC currently investigates, which options promise the most success in proceeding against this scheme.
