The number of .de domains registered by DENIC has reached the mark of seven millions on 19 January 2004. Thus, .de has further extended its lead as most popular country code Top Level Domain of the world.

On 8 December 2003 DENIC starts up the operation of a new .de name server in Berlin. This also means, that from now one DENIC is operating all name servers which contain the accesss information of all .de domains by itself.
