Regional Domain Statistics: Regensburg Remains the German Domain Stronghold
With 387 .de domains per 1,000 inhabitants, Regensburg has scored the first place among German cities and administrative districts the second time in succession. This is the result of the 2008 annual regional domain statistics implemented by the German registry DENIC. The statistics cover 429 cities and administrative districts.
Scoring 342 domains per 1,000 inhabitants, Munich must put up again with the second place as in 2007. 337 domains per 1,000 inhabitants make Bonn the city with the third largest number of domains per capita.
Compared to the previous year, the federal average increase rate of domains was eleven percent, which corresponds to a growth of about 1.1 million to approximately 11,265,000 domains at the end of 2008.
In addition to that, there are about 810,000 domains with holders residing abroad.
