Since 23 September 2008, DENIC provides a new information service called Domaincheck (DCHK, which is the abbreviation for Domain Availibility Check). It serves for querying the status of .de and ENUM domains. In the long run, the new service shall replace the currently known domain status query via whois.

To enable easy and uncomplicated utilization of the service, DENIC places at disposal a compiled DCHK client and its source code (in Java) under an LGPL license (version 3.0) as open source software for downloading.
