To support the efforts to ensure better worldwide distribution of the DNS root servers, DENIC eG as central registry for .de-domains and the Internet Association eco as operator of the exchange point DE-CIX are joining in the establishment and operation of a name server in Frankfurt, which is an exact copy of the K-root server located in London. This copy, as well as the root servers in London and Amsterdam, are supervised by RIPE NCC. DENIC is providing the internet access and sponsoring the necessary hardware, while eco is providing the locality and ensuring for 24-hour-service on location.
